There are thousands of hotel rooms on the Gold Coast. This region is Australia's most popular holiday destination and is busy the whole year round. The Gold Coast itself sits on a narrow coastal plain in south east Queensland, with the mountains of the Great Dividing Range close behind. Just south of these two icons of the hotel world are the beachside suburbs of Main Beach, Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach. This region is the heart of the holiday action on the Gold Coast and the number of high rise Gold Coast apartments and hotels and resorts here is staggering. They range from two star right through to five star so everyone including backpackers is catered for. Every year in October a motor racing carnival brings hundreds of thousands of visitors to this region as the track runs right along the beachfront and through the local streets that are all lined with hotels. The atmosphere at that time is incredible with the hotel balconies covered with race spectators and the noise and smell of the race cars fills the Gold Coast atmosphere.

The surfing scene is another huge crowd puller for the Gold Coast. There are over 20 superb surfing beaches here and each one has its own surf club and surf patrol. Surf carnivals are a regular event and attract thousands of tourists to watch the action as these super fit athletes compete in the iron man events and the surf boat races.The Gold Coast international standard theme parks are the leading destination for families with kids. Dreamworld, Seaworld, Movie World and Wet n Wild waterpark all attract thousands of children every day to experience the thrill rides and enjoy the other activities that include displays of Australian wildlife.
